What Gets Removed
Formatting is not one thing. Each switch targets a narrow syntax or Unicode behavior, so you can keep structure that your destination understands.
Markdown Headings
Leading hash markers can be removed while the heading words remain. This is useful when a form or email editor displays the hashes literally.
Bold and Italic Markers
Asterisk emphasis markers can be removed without deleting the enclosed words. Review code and mathematical text before enabling this rule.
Hidden and Spacing Artifacts
Zero-width controls, non-breaking spaces, repeated spaces, tabs, trailing whitespace, and excessive blank lines can be normalized separately.

Some editors parse Markdown and some do not. Keep markup when the CMS supports it; remove it only for a plain-text workflow.

Markdown removal may damage code fences, tables, links, or intentional notation, so inspect the change list before copying.
